What is your role at Dyslexia on Demand?
I am often the first face parents meet at Dyslexia on Demand. My role is to help families understand dyslexia, the purpose of effective therapy, and how to make it work within their child's life. I also spend much of my time educating beyond our therapy sessions, presenting, creating social media and YouTube content, and providing free resources so parents feel confident navigating everything from IEP meetings and accommodations to advocating for their child.
What are your education, certifications, and professional background?
I hold an MBA and am a Licensed Dyslexia Therapist (LDT) and Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT). I began my career in the public school system, where I served as a special education teacher before specializing in dyslexia therapy. Today, as the founder of Dyslexia on Demand, my professional background brings together education, dyslexia intervention, advocacy, and business leadership. I also regularly present on dyslexia intervention, accommodations, and supporting students with learning differences.
How do you support students, families, and schools?
I support students, families, and schools by helping connect the pieces: effective dyslexia intervention, meaningful data, appropriate accommodations, and strong advocacy. Whether I am helping a family understand their child's needs, collaborating with a school team, or educating professionals, my goal is to make dyslexia feel less overwhelming and ensure students receive the support they need to become successful, confident, and independent learners.
What are you most passionate about in your work?
I am most passionate about helping families truly understand dyslexia and recognize what is possible with the right support. I love watching students become stronger readers, but even more, I love seeing their confidence grow as they realize they are capable, intelligent learners. I am equally passionate about equipping parents with the knowledge and tools to advocate effectively for their children, and helping students learn to advocate for themselves.
What are your areas of expertise or special interests?
My primary area of expertise is the individualization of dyslexia therapy, using data to understand each student's unique learning profile and ensuring intervention is responsive to their specific needs rather than simply following a curriculum.
What do you hope families and schools experience when working with you?
More than anything, I want families and schools to feel supported. Dyslexia can come with a lot of questions and uncertainty, and I want people to know they have someone in their corner, someone who will listen, provide honest guidance, help problem solve, and work alongside them to find the best path forward for each student.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the Dyslexia on Demand team?
I love the camaraderie of being part of a team that knows we are making a meaningful difference for students with dyslexia around the world. Our reach is incredible, but what makes it truly special is the people, the most dedicated team of CALTs and office staff who genuinely care about their work, our students, and the families we serve.
What is one fun fact or personal interest you'd like families to know about you?
I grew up in South America and speak Spanish. I may be a little rusty these days, not quite ready to conduct an entire intake in Spanish, but I am working on polishing it every day through Duolingo. Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, cooking, and doing puzzles.
