Brandi Blaylock
M.Ed., LDT, CALT, Diagnostician
Director of Operations & Community Support
What is your role at Dyslexia on Demand?
I am the Director of Operations and Community Support.
What are your education, certifications, and professional background?
I have a B.S. in Biology and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Administration. I am a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT), Licensed Dyslexia Therapist (LDT), and Educational Diagnostician. My experience spans private and public school settings, where I taught students in grades 4 through 10 across a variety of subjects including math, science, and dyslexia intervention.
How do you support students, families, and schools?
Behind the scenes, I make sure our systems and processes support everything from marketing and enrollment to ongoing communication and therapist hiring, so we can operate efficiently while still providing highly individualized support to each student. I also work closely with families to help them understand how therapy supports their child, represent families during IEP meetings, and collaborate with our network of advocates. I am always available as a touchpoint for parents with questions.
What are you most passionate about in your work?
I love my job because the work we do helps children build the reading skills they need to confidently access the world around them. While I no longer provide direct therapy, I am passionate about creating the systems and resources that allow our therapists to do what they do best. Knowing that the work happening behind the scenes directly impacts a child's success is what I find most rewarding. My goal is always to remove barriers.
What are your areas of expertise or special interests?
I am a lifelong learner with a particular interest in technology, productivity, and communication, and I love finding ways to bring those areas together. I consider myself a bit of a wordsmith and enjoy crafting communication that feels authentic. I also love developing workflows and optimizing our systems so we can serve more clients efficiently without ever compromising the personalized experience that is so important to us.
What do you hope families and schools experience when working with you?
I hope everyone I interact with walks away feeling truly heard, understood, and supported. Families and schools often come to us after frustration and uncertainty as they search for the right help for a child, and I want them to know from the beginning that we share the same goal. I want them to feel they have someone in their corner who will listen, celebrate progress, and keep looking for solutions when something isn't working.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the Dyslexia on Demand team?
I love that every decision we make is child focused and team driven. There can be a misconception that working for a virtual company means everyone works in silos, but our office team is in constant communication, collaborating and problem solving with the individual child at the center of the conversation. I also love that my role lets me draw on my experience as a dyslexia therapist while using my strengths in administration and leadership.
What is one fun fact or personal interest you'd like families to know about you?
I am married with two kids, and the three of them are truly the loves of my life. We stay busy with concerts, plays, and all of the kids' sports and activities. I also have a white pit bull named Ash, who considers herself an unofficial member of the Dyslexia on Demand team and has been known to barge into my office for an unexpected camera appearance. Outside of work, I teach adult dance choreography classes.
