Why did you decide to become a CALT?

As a first grade classroom teacher, I had many students who struggled to read. In order to meet their academic needs, I wanted to further my knowledge and skill set in the area of reading. Through various professional development opportunities, including the Texas Reading Academies, and learning more about the Science of Teaching Reading I became interested in working with students with dyslexia.

Favorite moment working with dyslexic students?

My favorite moments when working with dyslexic students is when they start to see their growth and progress.

Your goal when working with kids with dyslexia?

My goal when working with students with dyslexia is to help them find joy in reading. To help them see their potential and believe in themselves.

Your teaching style, personality?

I am relaxed and like to have fun with the lessons. I feel that when students are having fun, they are more engaged in their learning.

Any family details?

I have two fun and energetic boys, who love to play outside, build Lego set, and watch movies.
