Why did you decide to become a CALT?

I chose to pursue CALT certification because I saw firsthand how students with dyslexia often struggle despite being bright, creative, and motivated. I wanted the highest level of training in structured literacy so I could empower students with the tools they need to read, write, and succeed academically. Becoming a CALT allows me to blend my background in special education with research-based, therapeutic instruction that changes lives.

Favorite moment working with dyslexic students?

One of my favorite moments working with students with dyslexia is witnessing the breakthrough when reading finally ‘clicks.’ Seeing the realization on their faces—when they recognize that they can read—is both powerful and deeply rewarding.

Your goal when working with kids with dyslexia?

My goal is to help students see themselves as capable, confident learners. I aim to close academic gaps while building their self-confidence along the way.

Your teaching style, personality?

My teaching style is structured, explicit, and multisensory, balanced with warmth and encouragement.

Any family details?

I have been married to my husband, John for 22 year. We have 3 kids between the ages of 11 and 16. We have 2 dogs, 1 cat and 1 turtle.
