Teaching Experience
I spent 29 years teaching in public schools, and for the past three, I’ve focused on working with students with dyslexia—both tutoring them and guiding teachers in how to support them. I’ve had the privilege of working with children from Pre-K all the way through 12th grade. I’m always growing professionally, staying current with new strategies so each student can succeed. My goal is to ignite a love of learning in your child. I look forward to partnering with you and your student!

Why did you decide to become a CALT?
When I was teaching in the classroom, I noticed that the traditional way of teaching reading wasn’t working for every student. I hated seeing kids struggle, so I started exploring the Science of Reading and in 2023 I made a leap into the private sector to deepen my work in this area, and it’s easily one of the smartest decisions I’ve ever made.
Favorite moment working with dyslexic students?
There’s nothing quite like watching students get a confidence boost—and with programs like Take Flight and Jet, it happens surprisingly fast. I once had a student who always said, “I can’t read,” to teachers and friends. Then one day, I heard him tell his friend, “I can read!” That lit me up. The emotional burden of struggling with reading is real, and it’s such a joy when I see that shift in a student’s confidence and outlook.
Your goal when working with kids with dyslexia?
My main goal, of course, is to get students reading. Because I start at a point that students are successful from the very beginning of interventions, it improves students’ confidence levels which encourages them to keep trying and thus become better readers.
Your teaching style, personality?
Friendly, compassionate, goal oriented.
Any family details?
My husband and I are the parents of four beautiful daughters and 13 grandchildren.
Any extra anecdotal info you want to add?
I’m still that horse-crazy 12-year-old at heart! I love competing at shows and make sure to hit the trails too—riding over 1,000 miles each year.
