Teaching Experience

I have taught in the elementary setting for twenty-two years, working with all types of learners. I have taught First and Second grade for many years before I moved into the field of dyslexia, and ultimately became a therapist.

Professional Affiliations

I know that all children can learn when given the confidence and support they need. As a therapist, being their cheerleader as they take risks and try to work in areas of weakness is so important to me.

Why did you decide to become a CALT?

My daughters have dyslexia and my journey to becoming a CALT helped me get to understand them at a deeper level. In addition, my heart is with those students that need therapeutic instruction in reading to move forward in their literacy development.

Favorite moment working with dyslexic students?

When the “aha” moments happen as they begin to see and believe in themselves as a reader.

Your goal when working with kids with dyslexia?

My goal is for all of my students to grow in their reading skills and strategies and grow in their confidence and positive self-awareness.

Your teaching style, personality?

I am very positive and nurturing while holding high expectations for my students.
