Why did you decide to become a CALT?

While navigating my son’s diagnosis with dyslexia, as a 2nd grader, researching to better understand and provide support to those affected by dyslexia became my passion.

Favorite moment working with dyslexic students?

To me, the look of accomplishment and pride on a student’s face when they truly understand a new concept and apply it correctly is beyond compare.

Your goal when working with kids with dyslexia?

My goal is to build self-esteem, confidence, empowerment, advocacy, and learning strategies for my students. As a CALT, I provide diagnostic, explicit, and systematic multisensory structured language interventions. This helps to build better accuracy, knowledge, and independence for students with dyslexia.

Your teaching style, personality?

As a teacher, I hope to make a difference in the lives of my students by motivating them to find their strengths, abilities, and what they truly desire. It is my desire as an educator to make learning enjoyable and exciting.

Any family details?

My husband and I are celebrating 21 years of marriage this year. We are blessed with two children and three dogs. We like to spend our time in the bleachers watching them play baseball and volleyball, as well as playing games during family game night.

Any extra anecdotal info you want to add?

Honey is sweet, “and so is knowledge, but knowledge is like the bee that made that sweet honey, you have to chase it through the pages of a book. “
