Why did you decide to become a CALT?

I decided to become a CALT after working with dyslexic students and seeing them struggle in the classroom! I realized the need for specially trained teachers and a strong intervention program to help them succeed, and I wanted to be part of it! In the Fall of 2021, I enrolled in JPW Learning Centers Take Flight Dyslexia Program to become a dyslexia therapist. I love teaching reading and working with children! Seeing their personal growth and academic progress are some of the most rewarding moments of my life!

Favorite moment working with dyslexic students?

My favorite moment working with a dyslexic student is when he successfully read a passage in a book he had been wanting to read for months but was too difficult when he first tried reading it! After months of therapy and hard work, I gifted him the book and we read a chapter every week!

Your goal when working with kids with dyslexia?

My goal is to give students the tools they need to successfully and confidently read, write, and communicate! My goal is also to make sure he or she knows that they are as smart as anyone else, they just learn in a different way!

Your teaching style, personality?

I like to make lessons as fun as possible, I love using my sound machine! I try to learn about the students interests so I can incorporate them into lessons as much as possible!
