Teaching Experience
I earned my education specialist credential in mild/moderate disabilities in January of 2016. As a public school teacher, I have experience working as both a Special Day Class teacher and a Resource Specialist. Both roles have been instrumental in helping me to become a well-rounded educator. I have experience with students who have a wide range of learning, behavioral, and social/emotional needs.

Why did you decide to become a CALT?
As a teacher, I spent a lot of my free time researching evidence-based instructional strategies that would help my students with their reading development. I came across a year-long certificate program that trained me in the Orton Gillingham approach, and I was hooked! Shortly after, I decided to enroll in a Master’s degree program that would prepare me to become a CALT. I am incredibly honored to be part of this special community that is helping change lives on a daily basis.
Favorite moment working with dyslexic students?
About a month ago, one of my students burst into his therapy session and exclaimed, “Guess what?! I can read now!”
My heart immediately melted! It has only been four months since this particular student began therapy. So I can only imagine the self-confidence that he will have a year from now.
Your goal when working with kids with dyslexia?
My goal is to help students develop self-confidence in their reading skills. I want them to believe in themselves and develop a lifelong love for reading and learning.
Your teaching style, personality?
I am a positive, supportive, and encouraging educator. I implement the Take Flight program with strong fidelity, while also individualizing the lessons to meet each student’s unique needs.
Any extra anecdotal info you want to add?
I am honored to be part of your child’s educational journey!
