As an Educator, I cherish the mindset of being a forever learner. I’m often reminded by my students to ignite a passion for discovering something new every day and to never lose that passion. I have experience in designing intervention plans and conducting formal evaluations for identification of SLD/Dyslexia while also implementing the Take Flight curriculum for identified students with dyslexia. With the implementation of Take Flight, I tailor it to meet the unique therapeutic needs of each student and push for the transfer of skills into the real world. Understanding that dyslexia cast its impact beyond reading, I am devoted to nurturing the whole child. Guiding them on their transformative journey to unlock their full potential and become self-advocates stands as a cornerstone of success in Dyslexia Therapy.

I have always been passionate about all things literacy. Becoming a CALT opened up a world of really understanding the science of reading. Understanding the teaching methods that not only works for the typical learner, but also my neurodivergent learners. It gave me the tools to become a better educator and always strive to learn more from the CALT community.

Why did you decide to become a CALT?

I have always been passionate about all things literacy. Becoming a CALT opened up a world of really understanding the science of reading. Understanding the teaching methods that not only works for the typical learner, but also my neurodivergent learners. It gave me the tools to become a better educator and always strive to learn more from the CALT community.

Favorite moment working with dyslexic students?

In dyslexia therapy, the most cherished moments are when my students say, “Mrs. Bailey… I JUST READ THAT!” The unrivaled beauty of witnessing their “aha moment” fills my heart with joy. Observing them realize their potential, conquering challenges they once believed insurmountable in general education settings, is the very essence of my passion for dyslexia. Such moments inspire them to embrace further challenges, fostering remarkable growth in confidence. Getting to be a part of their transformative journey and see how it affects more than just reading is an honor.

Your goal when working with kids with dyslexia?

At the heart of our journey lies the power of relationships, where trust and comprehension of purpose intertwine. As a therapist, cheerleader, advocate, and occasional source of comic relief, I stand by your side through the arduous path we tread. Despite the challenges faced, the transformative journey is one that the student, parent, and me all work as a team to achieve success!

Your teaching style, personality?

I once had a student tell me that they were excited to get me because “you’re stern, but you’re funny.” This has always stuck with me! I believe in having a good work ethic as well as doing things the right way. However, I do cherish moments of lightheartedness and being silly. This balance creates a nurturing and engaging learning environment for hard work and having fun along the way!

Any family details?

I am married with 2 daughters: Kallie (age 8). We love rollerblading, painting, and playing soccer! I also have my second child Bella (age 3/ age 21 in dog years), I say she is my second child because she requires just as much attention as Kallie! She loves to cuddle and will find any reason to put out some puppy dog eyes for some love!
