Why did you decide to become a CALT?

This is truly my dream job! I started my career in education working with individuals with dyslexia, and I have always had a passion to help students with learning differences. My goal was to learn how to teach students to read in a way that benefited so many in the classroom especially my students with dyslexia!

Favorite moment working with dyslexic students?

When I first started teaching with DOD, my favorite moments were when a student would share their favorite home projects/ art, pets or fun facts with me as an “incentive” after a wonderful structured literacy lesson (Take Flight)! These fun moments allowed a glimpse into the student’s personal life and allowed me to be available, even virtually!

Your goal when working with kids with dyslexia?

My goal is to see the student’s light-bulb moment. From the “I can’t read” to the “I can read now” moments and experiencing so much hope when looking how far the student has grown and overcome!

Your teaching style, personality?

Fun, excited, structured, friendly

Any extra anecdotal info you want to add?

Dyslexia on Demand has been one of the greatest tools for students and parents all across the US. I am so grateful to be a part of this incredible team! Virtual teaching/ virtual therapy is real dyslexia therapy!
