Why did you decide to become a CALT?
I was concerned with students that were having difficulty with reading and spelling. As an educator, I knew students that were struggling needed a systematic approach . I looked at the research and decided that this was the path that I needed to take.
Favorite moment working with dyslexic students?
I love to see when a student may be struggling with a concept ,and I may be asking questions to lead a student through guided discovery and all of a sudden the light bulb comes on . It is a very rewarding feeling for me.
Your goal when working with kids with dyslexia?
My goal is to not only teach students, but to understand them as people . I feel when you can make these connections, they will be more receptive to me as a therapist.
Your teaching style, personality?
I am a patient, caring and a laid back person. I like structure and for kids to know they have freedom to ask questions.
